Business Cards: Two at a Time

Business Cards are a great Marketing Tool to have and use. They can easily be the very most important Marketing Tool you will ever own. Not only can they be used to represent your company, they are also a great tool in Social Networking. But, the problem still remains: What do you do with them?

The cards will not do you any good sitting in the box waiting for someone to ask for them. Many times people who will accept and use a business card will not even ask for one. It is your job to get them out there. In fact, getting as many out there as you can is the name of the game.

The next part to decide on is just where exactly to get them. Naturally, you will always want to keep at least 10 or 15 on you at a time. That sounds like an awful lot, but when you think about it – why hand out just one at a time? I make it a rule to always hand out at least 2 cards every time I hand one out. Seem wasteful? It’s not, really. I always hand 2 out instead of one for the sole purpose of “If you have someone you would like to pass this on or recommend it to, please do!” That way, the person who has your card will always have an extra one to give to a friend or relative. Instead of looking all over for

a piece of paper and a scratch pad to write down your name and number, it is right there next to the card that is theirs. Its about convenience. This person is doing you a favour by referring you to a person he or she knows, so why not return the favour ahead of time and make it simpler for this person to do it. It will save him or her time, and it will also be a lot easier to hand someone else your card than to copy down all of the details so that person can keep the card for themselves. Next time you see this person, offer another card or two in case he or she has run out.

The more people you give your card too, if you give that person two, the more people your business card can eventually get to. Let’s say that you purchase a box of 100 cards and you want to sell a widget. If you give 50 people 2 cards, you now have 100 chances for a sale of a widget instead of just 50. If one person buying one widget covers the cost of the box of business cards – then think how many other things you could by if you have more than one person in a 100 buys another widget. Not only that, but look how many people now know that you sell widgets. The odds defiantly are in your favour!
