Malware is any software that produces unexpected and/ or malicious results. Removal of such programming is  usually tedious and almost always frustrating. The result is always unpredictable.
Having to reinstall the operating system of a PC after removing the malicious software happens more frequently than not. This means everything on your PC will be gone. We attempt to just repair your operating system versus reinstalling from scratch.
One of the implications of having to reinstall the operating system is that all the software you had installed will no longer work. If you have an office package (Microsoft Office, etc) you will have to reinstall it. The office program is seperately licensed from the operating system. Usually if the office program came installed on your PC from the manufacturer you don't have the license key to reinstall the program. If you purchased it from a retailer you should have the key. If you don't have the key you will have to purchase the software again (Microsoft's rules - not ours).
This is true of all software that isn't part of your operating system. Some software is free licensed and some is open source (shareware). To the maximum extent possible we use open source and free software on our system loads.
The same is true of "anti-" software. Third party protection software is usually one of the targets of malware... it comes with bragging rights to knock down a well known software. We have parternered recently to sell Vipre protection.
The most vicious result of malware attacks is identity theft. All of you know what identity theft is. To clear identity theft from your name is a long arduous road. Horror stories tell of years of struggle to clear your name.
